There are a couple different scenarios that can cause a seemingly sluggish product upload when products are saved, neither of them are caused by cobby:

  • Big changes in product data can cause big chunks of changes for Magento. Magento takes time to fully process all these changes.
  • Changes to some product attributes can cause the respective index to be triggered for every product and that takes long. There's a remedy for this:
Set the affected index to manual mode, then do your import. When you are done, set it back to update on save and reindex it.
  • If your shop uses Varnish it can take up to 20 minutes until product changes are ready in Magento, so that cobby can export the changes. You can eliminate this effect, through a cobby setting: Things to consider when Varnish is used
  • Changing some product attributes can cause the corresponding index to be triggered for each product that takes a long time. However, there is a workaround: Set the affected index to manual mode and perform the import. When you are finished, reset it to update and re-index it when you save it.
Note: This behavior only occurs up to cobby version 1.46.
