Scenario 1: Can't add images
Whenever you try to add images through the cobby task pane the feedback message box pops up and you can't add new images to the Excel sheet.

Possible causes:

The system time on your PC is misconfigured

AWS is blocked on your computer

Background knowledge:

The feedback message box will only ever pop up by itself if an error occurred in the background that is completely disrupting the execution of the cobby add-in in Excel.

If the feedback message box pops up while you try to add images in the sheet, the problem is caused on a connection issue between your Excel-installation and the Amazon Cloud Storage. cobby uses Amazons secure Cloud Storage to cache all images that are added through the cobby Add-in.

 

The system time on your PC is misconfigured 

If the NTP-service (Network Time Protocol) in Windows is misconfigured, the system clock can go wrong. In order to connect to Amazon Web Services the local time on your windows host needs to closely match the real time. AWS uses the local time to validate the connection to your computer.

AWS is blocked on your computer

Since Amazon web services are used by a multitude of users, it can happen that Internet Security Suites (i.e. MalwareBytes AntiMalware) block access to whole amazon server clusters when one server in the cluster is used to deliver Malware. Providers of Internet Security Suites normally act within hours to adapt their definitions, so that only the bad guys are blocked and not cobby.

If you use an Internet Security Suite, update the security definitions to resolve the issue.

Scenario 2: Can't load ProductsThe feedback message box opens whenever you try to load Products, apply a filter-setting or start import mode. After closing the feedback message box, excel hangs and you are forced to restart.

Possible causes:

The feedback message box will only ever pop up by itself if an error occurred in the background that is completely disrupting the execution of the cobby add-in in Excel.

If the feedback message box pops up right when you try to load products or start import-mode, it is likely caused by a local configuration issue that can easily be resolved.

Excel has R1C1 reference style set

If your worksheet looks like this and has numbers in rows and columns, instead of numbers in rows and letters in columns, you are in R1C1 reference style.

cobby only supports A1 reference style.

To switch back to A1 reference Style click on "File" and "Options". In the Excel Options, navigate to "Formulas" and under "Working with formulas" uncheck "R1C1 reference style". Close the dialogue with OK. cobby should work again.

Scenario 3: Only one row of products is shown in the cobby tables

Only the first product on each sheet is part of the table, all other products are printed underneath the table.

Possible causes:

Background knowledge:

When cobby loads products, it creates the tables from top to bottom. However certain settings can prevent Excel from including all new lines in the table.

Excel is not set to include new rows and columns in tables

  1. Open Excel and click on File --> Options,

2. in Options click on Proofing,
3. then in Proofing click on AutoCorrect options...,
4. Now you have reached the AutoCorrect-settings, switch to the tab AutoFormat as You Type,
5. Under Apply as you work check the setting Include new rows and columns in table.

It is checked by default and should always stay checked .

6. Exit out all the option-dialogs with OK.
7. Restart Excel and check if the problem persists.
